PrepPal Chat Terms of Service (Supplement)

Effective Date: August 31, 2025

1. Scope and Relationship to Other Policies

• These PrepPal Chat Terms ("Chat Terms") govern use of PrepPal, the AI chat/tutor feature within PrepCraft.
• These Chat Terms supplement, and are incorporated into, the PrepCraft Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. In case of conflict, the PrepCraft Terms of Service and Privacy Policy control.
• Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the PrepCraft Terms of Service.

2. Eligibility and Parent/Guardian Consent

• PrepPal is intended for children ages 4–14 and requires a parent/guardian to enable the feature and accept these Chat Terms.
• Parents/guardians are responsible for overseeing use, reviewing activity, and disabling Chat at any time.

3. Acceptable Use and Safety Rules

PrepPal must be used for educational purposes only. The following are prohibited:

• Inappropriate, offensive, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or unsafe content or requests.
• Attempts to bypass safety filters or to elicit harmful/inappropriate output.
• Sharing personal data beyond what is reasonably necessary for educational context.
• Academic dishonesty (e.g., submitting AI output as a student's own work when prohibited).
• Any unlawful activity or activity that violates third-party rights.

PrepCraft may automatically filter, block, review, and log interactions to maintain safety and quality (see Privacy Policy).

4. Moderation and Enforcement (Three-Strike Rule)

• First Violation: A warning is issued and the parent/guardian is notified by email.
• Second Violation: A second warning is issued with an email notification that one strike remains.
• Third Violation: PrepPal chat is automatically paused for the learner. The parent/guardian is notified and must review safety alerts, accept these Chat Terms again, and explicitly re-enable chat from the dashboard. Re-enabling resets the strike count.
• PrepCraft may, at its discretion, permanently disable access to PrepPal or the Services for egregious violations at any time without prior warning.
• Determinations of violations are made by PrepCraft in its sole discretion based on safety signals, moderation outcomes, and policy guidelines.

5. AI Output and Educational Limitations

• PrepPal responses are generated by AI and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for certain contexts. Do not rely on PrepPal as a sole source of truth or professional advice.
• PrepPal is an educational support tool and does not replace teachers, tutors, or professional services.

6. Content and License

• You (or the child's parent/guardian) retain rights in the input you provide. To operate PrepPal, you grant PrepCraft a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to process inputs and generate outputs, and to use interaction data for safety, quality, and service improvement consistent with the Privacy Policy.
• Due to the nature of AI, similar outputs may be generated for different users.

7. Data and Privacy

• Use of PrepPal is subject to the PrepCraft Privacy Policy. Message content may be processed by moderation and AI service providers for safety and functionality.
• We minimize personal data in chat interactions and provide parental rights to access, deletion, and consent management as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Third-Party Services

PrepPal may rely on third-party AI and safety services. These providers act under agreements requiring protection of personal information. See the Privacy Policy for details.

9. Availability and Changes

PrepPal may be updated, suspended, or discontinued at any time. Features and safety measures may change to improve educational value and user safety.

10. Disclaimers; Limitation of Liability; Dispute Resolution

Disclaimers of warranties, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution (including arbitration and class-action waiver, if applicable) are governed by the PrepCraft Terms of Service.
